Can I Get My Longmont Accident Report Online?
Yes, through CARFAX. The City of Longmont offers CARFAX as an alternative to the Records Unit for accident reports within city limits, at a flat rate of about $5.25. Use the CARFAX crash report link for Longmont provided by the city.
Longmont Public Safety holds records only for incidents inside Longmont city limits. If a Boulder County Sheriff’s deputy or a Colorado State Patrol trooper handled your crash, request the report from that agency.
How Do I Request a Longmont Police Report by Mail or in Person?
Through the Records Unit, which is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- By mail: call 303-651-8502 first to confirm the report is available and releasable. The city asks that you not mail the form before contacting Records. Then mail the Criminal Justice Records Request Form to Longmont Department of Public Safety, Records Unit, 225 Kimbark St., Longmont, CO 80501.
- In person: go to the Records Unit window on the first floor of the Safety and Justice Building at 225 Kimbark Street. Staff will check availability, give you the form, and quote the cost.
A fee applies to all criminal justice records. Longmont accepts cash, check, or credit card, and card payments carry a 2.95 percent processing fee.
How Do I Get Body Camera Footage From a Longmont Police Officer?
Submit a Digital Media request, which is separate from the report request. Digital media includes photos, dispatch audio, video, and body camera footage.
- Confirm first: email the request form or call 303-774-4555 to confirm availability. Longmont asks that you not mail the form before contacting the Digital Media Evidence Technician.
- Then submit: mail the Digital Media Request Form to the Digital Media Evidence Technician, 225 Kimbark Street, Longmont, CO 80501, and say how you want to receive the files. You can also request in person at the Records Unit window.
Fees apply to all digital media.
How Long Does a Longmont Police Records Request Take?
Longer than many people expect. The City of Longmont states that criminal justice records requests may take weeks and even months to process, and that records related to an active case cannot be released until the investigation is closed. A request received after noon, or on a day the office is closed, counts as received the next working day.
The CARFAX option for accident reports is separate from this process. If you need footage or other records, request them early.
