How to Get a Copy of Your Erie, Colorado Police Accident Report

Lawyer Reviewing a Crash Report

Last updated: November 2026

Erie Police Department accident reports are free online through Crashdocs, which the Town of Erie has partnered with to provide crash reports. If you also want the officer’s notes, photos, or video, submit a separate records request to Erie Police Records, where fees apply.

Go to the Erie Police Department Crashdocs page. The Town of Erie lists crash reports there at no charge.

Erie handles officer notes separately from the crash report. To get them, submit a records request through the Erie Police Records request portal. Fees are payable at the time of service:

RecordFee
Crime or incident report$7 for the first 10 pages, $0.25 per page after
Research$41.37 per hour after the first free hour
Video$20 per hour
Photos$5 per 25 photos
Thumb drive$20

Erie Police Records is at 1000 Telleen Ave., Erie, CO 80516, open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except observed holidays. The phone number is 303-926-2800, and mail goes to PO Box 510, Erie, CO 80516.

Yes, for property damage only. Erie directs property damage collisions, including hit-and-runs, to the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles online crash report. That report goes to the state, not to Erie Police.

Erie keeps the officer’s notes separate from the crash report you download from Crashdocs. Whether the two agree on what happened matters, because Colorado bars recovery for anyone found 50 percent or more at fault.

Download the free report, request the officer’s notes if you can, and bring both to a free 30-minute consultation with attorney Greg Francis of Francis Law. He’ll compare them with your photos and any video and explain where they agree and where they don’t. If the notes haven’t come back yet, start with the report.
